IBPS Clerk 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for IBPS Clerk 2026, candidates must ensure that they fulfill all the required eligibility conditions. The eligibility criteria are based on three major factors:

  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualification
  • Nationality / Citizenship

IBPS Clerk Age Limit (As per 2026 Notification)

To be eligible for IBPS Clerk 2026:

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 28 Years

Birth Date Criteria: A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1998 and not later than 01.07.2006 (both dates inclusive).


Relaxation of Upper Age Limit

Certain categories are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India rules. The details are provided below:

IBPS Clerk Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

Important Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate on the date of registration.
  • The percentage of marks obtained in Graduation must be mentioned during online registration.
  • Result status must be declared on or before the registration date.

Computer Literacy

Working knowledge of computers is mandatory since the IBPS Clerk exam is conducted online.

The candidate must have:

  • Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Computer Operations or Language
  • OR studied Computer / IT as a subject in school or college

Language Proficiency

Candidates should have proficiency in the official language of the State/UT for which they are applying. They must be able to:

  • Read the language
  • Write the language
  • Speak the language

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be one of the following:

  1. A Citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal
  3. A subject of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  5. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Note: Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
