A
830
B
810
C
780
D
740
E
None of the above
Correct Answer: Option D

10% of N = 296 - 222

N/10 = 74

N = (74 x 10) = 740

Question 12
In an office, 40 % of the staff is female. 40% of the female and 60% of the male voted for me. The percentage of votes I got was:

A
24%
B
42%
C
50%
D
52%
Correct Answer: Option D

Let the total number of staff be 100.

Female staff = 40

Male staff = (100 - 40) = 60

Votes cast by females = (40/100) x 40 = 16

Votes cast by males = (60/100) x 60 = 36

Votes cast by both (males + females) = 16 + 36 = 52

 Percentage votes obtained = 52%

Question 13
A reduction of 20% in the price of wheat enables a person to buy 3.5 kg more wheat for ₹ 770. The original price of rice is?

A
₹ 55 per kg
B
₹ 45 per kg
C
₹ 65 per kg
D
₹ 37 per kg
E
None of the above
Correct Answer: Option A

Here, R = 20%, A = 3.5 kg and P = ₹ 770

According to the formula ,

Actual price of rice = [PR /(100 - R)] A

            = [(20 x 770) / (100 - 20)] x 3.5

            = [(20 x 770) / (80 x 3.5)

            = ₹55

Question 14
Due to a 25% increase in the price of rice per kilogram, a person is able to purchase 20 kg less for ₹ 400. What is the increased price of rice per kilogram?

A
₹ 5
B
₹ 6
C
₹ 10
D
₹ 4
Correct Answer: Option A

Increase in the price of rice = 25%

 Increased in ₹ 400 = 25% of ₹ 400

      = 400 x (25/100) = ₹100

Increased in rate of rice in 25%, there are 20kg less rice in ₹ 400 i.e., rate of 20 kg rice

 = ₹ 100

 = Rate of 1kg rice = 100/20 = ₹ 5

Increased price of rice = ₹ 5 per kg

Question 15
For a sphere of radius 10 cm. the numerical value of the surface area is how many per cent of the numerical value of its volume?

A
24%
B
26.5%
C
30%
D
45%
Correct Answer: Option C

Surface area sphere = 4π x (10)2

Volume sphere= 4π/3 x (10)3

      = (4000π/3) cm3

 Required percentage = {(400πx 3) / (4000π)} x 100 %

     = 30%
