Infosys conducts recruitment tests that feature both technical and aptitude tests. The test has no negative marking, but to qualify a candidate needs to clear the sectional cut-offs.

The recruitment test details:
This section has been introduced in the Infosys recruitment test this year. The Quantitative Ability section assesses the candidate’s problem solving and analytical skills.
i. This section includes- 10 Questions to be solved in 35 Minutes.
ii. It includes higher difficulty questions which can be time consuming.
iii. The section focuses more on questions from topics like numbers and advanced concepts like Permutation & Combination and Probability. Few questions also cover topics like Time and Work, Time Speed and Distance.
iv. The section also includes one or two multiple choice Cryptarithmetic questions. These questions can be time consuming to solve, but if one thoroughly assesses the options given, it becomes easier to get right.
i. The section includes questions on topics like Data Arrangement, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Syllogism, Visual Reasoning and Puzzles, which is similar to the older Infosys test pattern.
ii. Earlier, the test featured sets of 5 questions in each set, but now it has been reduced to 2 or 3 per question set.
Apart from the above, there is not much change in the difficulty level of the questions.
The Infosys recruitment test focuses a lot on Verbal Ability and the same can be seen in this section, which has the same pattern as earlier.
There are 40 questions covering almost all the areas of English, such as Grammar, Comprehension, Vocabulary and Critical Reasoning, with each topic having 10 Questions.
Quantitative Ability –
a. The focus should be on getting 6 Questions correct by identifying the less time consuming questions and solving them within the first 15 Minutes of the test.
b. There are usually 3 to 4 very easy to solve questions which can be attempted in less than 5 minutes.
c. After attempting these questions, you are left with around 20 Minutes to attempt the remaining 4 questions. Even if you get at least 1 question correct, you are most likely to clear the expected cut-off.
d. The key to success in this section is to identify those 6 questions which are easier, and solve them quickly.
Reasoning Ability –
a. The emphasis should be to attempt the individual questions first, such as the questions from Syllogism, Data Sufficiency, Visual Reasoning and Puzzles.
b. The reason why one should attempt these questions first is that such questions do not need common data to be solved and each question at the most can take 2 minutes to solve. However, majority of such questions can even be solved in less than a minute. Focus on solving 9 such questions within the first 15 minutes of the test.
c. The remaining questions can include topics like Data Arrangement and Data Interpretation. We recommend solving the Data Arrangement questions at the end as there is a high possibility of getting them wrong. Hence, if out of the remaining 10 Minutes, if you get 2 to 3 questions correct, you can clear the expected cut-off with ease.
Verbal Ability -
a. Attempt the questions on Sentence Correction or Error Spotting and Vocabulary at the start. Also, try to solve these 20 questions within the first 15 Minutes.
b. Next, attempt the Reading Comprehension which includes a lengthy passage, followed by 2 to 3 direct questions. Don’t read the entire passage, rather read the question first and then try to find the answer from the passage.
c. You can easily solve the direct questions within 5 minutes and then go on to attempt the other type of questions as there is no negative marking.
d. Don’t waste your time in interpretation type of questions. If you get a short passage, it is better to attempt it at the last because the questions can be harder. There has always been at least one passage within the Infosys test that is lengthy, hence it is advisable to attempt that first.
e. There are questions of Critical Reasoning as well. Try to attempt 5 to 6 of these questions within 10 Minutes.
f. If you follow this strategy, then by now you would have attempted around 30 questions in 30 Minutes. If you have an accuracy of 85%, you will comfortably clear the cut-off and still be left with 5 Minutes to attempt the remaining questions.
Overall, the Infosys test has been created to recruit the best talent. Infosys conducts linear tests that test the candidate not only on his subject knowledge but also on his decision making skills. When we say Linear Tests, it means a mix of easy and difficult questions that carry the same marks, which is not the case in adaptive tests conducted by Wipro, Accenture and Cognizant. It is the decision making skill of the candidate that decides the success of the candidate in linear tests, i.e. whether he attempts the easy questions and clears the cut-off or the harder ones which can be time-consuming to solve. Framing a clear strategy to solving the test can go a long way in deciding your success in it.
