Hello friends,
I am placed in Infosys from the recent referral drive. I am going to share my experience which may help during your selection process. First of all this year's drive was conducted on a large scale and the cutoff percentage for the interview was 65%. The written test is of 95 minutes and consisted of three sections:
quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning and verbal ability. Each section had a sectional cutoff and there is no negative marking. Quantitative aptitude contained 10 questions to be solved in 35 mins. It was a bit difficult but practicing it may get along in this section. It had questions related to time& work, speed & distance, cryptarithmetic, mixture and allegations etc.
Time given is more so be cool and understanding the problem may get you along this section. The second section is logical reasoning which consisted of data interpretation, syllogisms, arrangements, coding & decoding. I suggest you to complete data interpretation before going to arrangements because it may take more time and easy compared to the latter. The difficulty level is medium and time allotted for this section is 25 mins.
The third section is verbal reasoning which consists of 40 questions to be done in 35 mins. The level of difficulty of this section is medium too. The questions mainly asked are replacement of sentences, synonyms, comprehension passages etc. I received interview call letter mail on night and only 1 day gap is given. The exam was conducted for around 800-1000 and 150-200 people were shortlisted for interview. Infosys conducts interview in a short time. Max. Interview time for each candidate is 10-15 minutes.
I went it to the interview room and was asked the basic question: tell me about yourself. As I am from mechanical stream he asked what do you know about programming. I told I can answer questions on C programming. He asked me some questions on them like what is difference between C and Java, what is bottom-top approach, what are functions and what are the uses with it and some more . I answered them perfectly. Surpisingly he asked me some core related questions in mechanical such as what is IC engine, what are 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine.
I suggest you guys to be prepared also with core questions as they test the candidate how confidently he answers the question. Then he asked me why do you want to get it into IT industry. I told them that I developed a inclination towards IT by seeing the advancements it is creating in technology and I am interested on it. He was satisfied with my answer and asked me whether I have any questions for him. I asked a few formal questions regarding how I performed in interview and what are the skills I needed to improve. He gave me some suggestions and I left the room.
Infosys sends call letter to the candidates in batchwise and the availability of training slot in their campus. I waited for more than a month with no update from them and finally received call letter after 35 days.
What I came to know is that clearing the written test may leave you with around 60-70% of selection chances. So prepare well for the written test. The questions in interview would be from resume so don't show the skills in resume which you are not aware of. All the best for guys who are aspiring for job in Infosys. Thank you:)
